Friendlies — football scoreboard for amateur clubs

Friendlies ("the app", "we", "us") is a football/soccer scoreboard app for amateur clubs and teams. This policy explains what data the app collects, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. It applies to the iOS and Android versions of the app.

Who is responsible for your data
The app is operated by an individual developer ("the developer"). The developer is the data controller for the purposes of UK/EU data protection law.
Backend data is stored and processed by Supabase (our hosting and database provider) on the developer's behalf, acting as a data processor.
What data we collect
1. Account & identity
When you sign in with Sign in with Apple or Google, we receive and store:
- Your email address
- Your name (as provided by Apple or Google)
- A user ID (a random identifier created by our authentication system)
- An optional display name you can set yourself
We do not receive or store your Apple/Google password.
2. Club, team and match data
Data you enter to run your club and record matches:
- Club details: name, short name, colours, scheduled match day/time, and the location (latitude/longitude) of your home pitch if you set one
- Player roster: player names, surnames, preferred shirt numbers, and availability
- Match records: kick-off times, scores, goals (including who scored and when), and which players took part
- Your availability for upcoming matches
3. Health & fitness data
If you grant permission, after a match has finished the app reads the following from Apple HealthKit (iOS) or Health Connect (Android) for the time window of that match, to show your per-match stats:
- Step count
- Distance (walking/running)
- Active calories burned
- Average heart rate
This data is read retrospectively (after the match, not live), is aggregated into a single summary per match, and is only read if you explicitly grant health permission. You can decline or revoke this permission at any time in your device settings; the rest of the app continues to work without it.
4. Device & notification data
If you enable push notifications, we store a device push token (an APNs token on iOS or an FCM token on Android) so we can notify club members when a match finishes. We also store whether you have muted notifications for a given club.
What we do NOT collect
- No live/background location tracking (only a home-pitch coordinate you choose to set)
- No camera, photos, contacts, microphone, or address-book access
- No date of birth, gender, or other sensitive demographic data
- No advertising identifiers, and no advertising
- No third-party analytics, tracking, or crash-reporting SDKs
- No browsing history or app-usage profiling
How your data is used
We use your data only to provide the app's features:
- Authenticate you and keep you signed in
- Store and sync your club, roster, matches and stats across your devices
- Share club data with other members of clubs you belong to (see below)
- Send match-finished push notifications to club members
- Show your personal match fitness stats
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising or for any purpose unrelated to running the app.
How data is shared between users
Friendlies is a shared, multi-user app. When you join or are added to a club, the following becomes visible to other members of that club:
- The club's details (name, colours, home-pitch location, schedule)
- The player roster (names, numbers, availability)
- Match results, goals and scorers
- Each participating player's per-match fitness stats (steps, distance, calories, average heart rate)
- The member list, including each member's display name and email address
Only join a club whose members you are comfortable sharing this information with. Access is enforced server-side: people who are not members of a club cannot see its data.
Third parties
We share data with these service providers only as needed to run the app:

We do not share your data with any other third parties, advertisers, or data brokers.
Data retention and deletion
Your data is retained for as long as your account exists.
You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Account → Delete Account). Deleting your account permanently removes:
- Your profile, email and display name
- Clubs you own, and your club memberships
- Your stored device tokens
- Your availability records
- Your recorded per-match fitness stats
Historical match facts (such as a goal you scored) may remain in a club's records with your personal link removed, so the club's match history stays intact.
Deletion is immediate and permanent; there is no recovery period.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g. under UK/EU GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. Most of these can be exercised directly in the app; for anything else, contact us at the email above and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Children
Friendlies is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.
Security
Data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). Access to club data is restricted server-side so only members of a club can read its data. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
